Whoa !!! It has been awhile since I last posted here. There’s been a lot going on here between work, the house and martial arts. Starting with the house, we are done with the staining project of the two staircases. We just have to put the varethane on it and that will take awhile as well. In the meantime, topsoil has been laid down on the front and back yards. Sod should be laid down any day. We just don’t know when. However, as soon as it is down, we will have to water the yard right away. I have seen some neighbors who have failed to do this in a timely and their new sod are already ruined. We don’t want that to happen. Our driveway was finally paved earlier this week. So things are taking shape here. The neighborhood is not yet full. I would imagine that, by fall, we will start seeing more and more people moving into our neighborhood.
In another development, I have accepted an appointment to a newly created hearing officer position with the City of Oshawa, adjudicating disputes regarding Oshawa business licensing by laws. Currently, the City of Oshawa is working on setting up the hearing process and procedures. It is currently contemplated that I will be taking hearings every couple weeks in the evenings. For those of you who are wondering, this position does not require admission to the Ontario bar as the powers of the hearing officer is derived from the Statutory Power Procedures Act of Ontario. I think that this position has the potential to become a full time position. We shall see. In the meantime, I’m still doing temp work with the Law Foundation of Ontario in downtown Toronto and am enjoying it. I’m also still quite actively engaged in networking down there. Who knows where that will lead to ?
